As an artist, one of the most difficult tasks is to get record labels and booking agencies to take a chance on you and give you a shot. You may believe that your talent and product has was it takes but unfortunately, the harsh reality is not everyone will feel the same. When you pitch yourself to companies’ A&R, there are a few things you should keep in mind. Here are a few tips to consider when sending submissions to A&R:

1. Make sure you email is professional

As a booking agency, we get tons of emails and submissions that are not formatted correctly. Make sure to make your pitches short and sweet with appropriate links to music and social media. Don’t send us a novel on your act/brand. We, along with many others have no time to read a whole story. Treat your brand like a business. Professionalism is key!

2. Music is Key

At the end of the day, music and production is essential! Be confident in what you send. You might have only one chance to grab someones attention so make sure the material is top notch!

3. Persistence

Keep grinding! The music business is a brutal and cut throat game. Don’t get discouraged when you don’t hear back or someone tells you no. Trust me, people will reach out when the hear and see good talent!

Keep these things in mind when you put yourself out there. You’ll never know what can happen!
